Elysian Fields will play at "Les Nuits Secrètes" festival in Aulnoye-Aymeries (France) on 10 August 2008
In addition, the band is scheduled to perform at a concert honoring the music of Serge Gainsbourg (whose song "Les Amours Perdues" they've covered). Presented by John Zorn and Tzadik (which has put out the Mar Enfortuna disks), the concert will take place 25 February 2009 at La Salle Pleyel in Paris.

La Mar Enfortuna -- which features Oren Bloedow and Jennifer Charles from Elysian Fields -- will be playing in New York at The Stone, 28 June 2008, 8 PM. The band will consist of Oren Bloedow (guitar), Jennifer Charles (voice), Brahim Fribgane (oud), Ted Reichman (accordion), Zafer Tawil (violin), Oscar Noriega (clarinet), Jonathan Maron (bass), Robert Dipietro (drums).
Opportunities to see La Mar Enfortuna don't come around very often. I had the chance to see them last year and it was a mind-blowing experience. I highly recommend everybody try to make this show. The Stone is a very intimate space and you can't find a better place to hear music.

To kick off the new year, Jennifer Charles has posted a new entry on Elysian Fields' official journal. She reveals that the band's new record, The Afterlife, is finished. It contains 10 songs, "unfastened from the firmament," featuring a number of EF regulars such as Ed Pastorini, Ben Perowsky, Matt Johnson, James Genus, Thomas Bartlett, and others. However, there is not yet a release date for the disk, as the band is searching for just the "right home."
Elysian Fields will be playing its first gig of the year at The Stone in New York on 18 January.
And if you're a fan of the band who also happens to have webmaster skills, Elysian Fields is casually looking for someone to work with their site at elysianmusic.com. If you're interested, send me a note (to chris AT the obvious domain name) stating your qualifications and I'll pass it along.
Happy new year!
